Sorry I scribed so late. Haha. Lost track of time. Anyways we started our new unit last friday on Using Formulas, and finding Distances. We were given four steps to think about before answering a question.

1. Identify what you are asked to find.
2. What Information can you use?
3.Can you use the info directly from the question or do you need to do some calculations.
4. Solve.

We were given a question to find a volume of a square. The problem was that we weren't given the length or the width. But we were given information that the square is 8 cm. We were given paper and we cut out a 8 x 8 cm square. We folded each side and cut out the corners. We now had to measure it and find the volume. V = LWH. But it still wasn't enough to find the answer. So we were taught that we can use the Pythagoras Theorem where the answer came out to be;

V=(8-2x)(8-2x)(x)
V=(64 - 16x - 16x + 4x^2)
V= 64x - 32x^2 + 4x^3 cm^3

The next topic was Distance b/w pts. We learned how to place points on a y and x axis. And use the distance formula d = V(x^2-x1) + (y2-y1)^2). Sorry i can't put the big v and the line on top. We showed how the can be collinear (on the same line). Class was fun. Dont forget your homework on Exercise 4. Enjoy!

Hello there Agent Gummy Bear.

Your first mission is this...
1) Click on the link SCRIBE POST HALL OF FAME (you will find it on the right side of the screen).
2) Choose any 1 of the posts that has been inducted into the hall of fame and answer the following questions in the comment area of this post. (Click on 'comments' below). Each HALL OF FAME POST can only be used once, so make sure that no one has commented on it before you (or yours will not count).

QUESTIONS TO ANSWER:
1) What is the TITLE of the post and who was the author?
2) What is the math topic that the person was writing about?
3) What reasons were given for inducting this post into the hall of fame?
4) What did you think of the persons work?

Don't forget to be respectful of people's work and the safety issues that we discussed in class. In order to give you credit for doing this homework assignment you must use your real first name (NO last name).

Have fun... and welcome to YOUR blog.

Hey Gummy Bears,
This is The Scribe List. Every possible scribe in our class is listed here. This list will be updated every day. If you see someone's name on this list in Blue Font then you CANNOT choose them as the scribe for the next class.This post can be quickly accesed from the [Links] list on the right hand sidebar. Check the list before you choose a scribe for tomorrow's class when it is your turn to do so. At the end of your scribe post, let us know who will be scribing tomorrow.
